Apply Trading License for Sole Proprietorship (For Unisex Salon / Barber)
License Details
Pre Requisite
- Complete the application form for Business license and DBKK License.
- Aged 18 years and above, local/permanent resident of Sabah or have a work pass for residents of Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. For foreign nationals must go through a registered company establishment and have a work pass.
- Applicants are required to submit a premise renovation plan to the City Planning Department, DBKK for approval if any modifications are made.
- Applicants and employees must undergo a medical examination and possess a health certificate before a license is issued.
- 50% of the employees must be Sabahan.
- Provide an emergency box, a trash can with a lid for disposing of haircuts, a suitable container to boil and boil used towels, a wash basin and sufficient soap and at least one unit of fire extinguisher that has been approved by the Fire Department.
- Lighting and ventilation systems Piping and drainage systems shall be installed in accordance with the approved plan and always in a clean condition.
- Massage activities and selling liquor are not allowed in the salon.
- Installation of partitions or curtains is not allowed to separate the dressing chairs.
- Waste water discharged in the air conditioning unit shall be channeled through a pipeline to the existing drainage approved. Pipelines shall be cemented in the concrete of the sidewalk floor (if necessary through the sidewalk area).
- All waste water in the sink shall be channeled to the existing sewerage system (sewerage manhole) through a pipe of at least 2 ½ inches in diameter and shall be cemented in concrete thoroughly so as not to be exposed.
- Any treatment room must not have doors, only curtains are allowed. The height of the walls in the room for the treatment shall be no more than seven feet (7 ” – 0”) above floor level.
- The hair washing area should be equipped with a “hair strainer” so that the hair can be filtered.
